A Training evening for Parents and others
16th November, 7:30pm, The Education Centre. Cost £Free
Self-Harm is a problem in almost every area of society, particularly amongst young people – both outside and inside the church. Some studies indicate that hospital admissions have increased by 70% between 2012 and 2014 for 10-14 year olds. It is thought that around 13% of young people may try to hurt themselves at some point between the ages of 11 and 16. This practical training evening run by Rachel Welch, from the Christian organisation SelfharmUK (see here) will explore what parents need to know about the issue, and how to best respond. This will be drawing from the excellent guide book for parents that SelfharmUK have produced, which will be on sale (£5). Parents can make a massive difference for the better – but how we respond can make a real difference – of course we have allowed for plenty of time for questions and discussion!
The training will run from 7:30 on 16th November at The Education Centre, The Cathedral, Guildford GU2 7UP. Coffee and cake provided. Cost £free (booking required). To book your place or for more information please email email@example.com.
