A Training day for Clergy, Youth Leaders and Children’s Leaders
16th November, 11-3pm, The Old School, St Paul’s Tongham*. Cost £10
Self-Harm is a problem in almost every area of society, particularly amongst young people – both outside and inside the church. Some studies indicate that hospital admissions have increased by 70% between 2012 and 2014 for 10-14 year olds. It is thought that around 13% of young people may try to hurt themselves at some point between the ages of 11 and 16. In this day run by Rachel Welch, from the Christian organisation SelfharmUK (see here) we will explore both the nature of the problem and how we as church leaders and youth and children’s specialists can respond. We will think about both a theological as well as a practical response. The church can make a massive difference for the better – but we need to know how to do it. There will be plenty of opportunity for discussion and questions.
*The training will run from 11:00 – 3:00 on 16th November at The Old School, St Paul’s Tongham, GU10 1DS (note change of venue). Lunch provided. Cost £10.
