Our second video from Zephaniah 3:17 is a bit more highbrow – not least because it is in Latin… The text is ‘Dominus Deus tuus in medio tui Fortis ipse salvabit gaudebit super te in laetitia silebit in dilectione tua exultabit super te in laude’ or if you prefer the English… ‘The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.’
This leaves me wondering what does it mean to have the perfect Father, who created everything looking over us, no longer with rebuke but rejoicing with singing? What is our response to this call? And what difference does it make that Zephaniah talks about God doing, not the Spirit or the Son?
